Mental Health Counseling

ALL SESSIONS ARE OFFERED THROUGH SECURE VIDEO APPOINTMENTS AND ARE OPEN TO THOSE RESIDING IN WASHINGTON STATE.

I focus on providing counseling that addresses some of the most urgent mental health conditions affecting our first responder and military communities, including, but not limited to:

  • Critical Incident Trauma
  • Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD/PTSI)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Suicide Prevention
  • Burnout/Workplace Stress
  • Work/Life Balance

I use evidence-based practices (EBPs) backed by science.  The counseling strategies that I use are gold-standard treatment models. That means they have been proven effective in both short- and long-term research studies.  It is important to note that very few counseling models have been tested and proven effective to this standard.  Since each person is unique, we will work together to determine what works best for you, tailoring counseling to your individual goals.

I am proud to have trained with some of the nation’s leading experts on trauma.  Despite common misconceptions, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is treatable: you are not doomed to live with it forever. The treatment strategies I use to combat trauma are: Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). PE and CPT are gold standard treatment models backed by extensive research. Both models have been adopted by the Veteran's Administration.  Treatment typically takes months, not years, with results that last.

Other models I use in my practice are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention, the Unified Protocol, and Stress Inoculation Training.  I am also trained in Psychological First Aid.

Training

We provide custom training to agencies, colleges and universities, and individual mental health professionals.  Our training focuses on mental wellness and resilience for first responders, post-traumatic stress, and on working with sexual assault survivors.

Consulting

Now more than ever, agencies need to invest in retaining their officers, which includes offering adequate mental wellness resources.  Mental wellness directly translates to officer and community safety.  We partner with agencies to review and implement effective, research-backed protocols.

Clinical Supervision

I offer clinical supervision as both one-time consults and ongoing support.  I immensely enjoy coaching other clinicians toward their professional goals.  I am specialized in working with sexual assault survivors (children and adults), first responders, and military communities.
